A dancer known for her strong staging and long lines, she was Paul Taylor’s favorite dance partner and his right hand for the past half century, and now serves as his rehearsal director. He served as the company’s director.

The Taylor School has been teaching Taylor’s style to professional-level dancers since 1984.

In 1993, he founded the Taylor 2 Dance Company, which allows the company to present its work to audiences around the world without the financial and logistical constraints of non-traditional venues. The Paul Taylor Dance Company continued to perform and tour internationally, but Taylor 2 was temporarily closed.

In 2005, Taylor received a $20 million grant from the Carnegie Corporation, funded by Mayor Michael Bloomberg, as one of New York City’s 406 arts and social service organizations.

In 2015, Taylor embarked on a new project, Paul Taylor American Contemporary Dance, an annual season at Lincoln Center’s Koch Theater that presents contemporary dance works by choreographers other than Taylor.

The Paul Taylor Dance Company’s New York season has been presented at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater since 2012. Prior to that, the company had been performing at New York City Center since 1977, typically for three weeks, with up to 20 dances presented in a season.
