The most famous Slovenian ballet dancer is probably Polona Hercog, who was a principal dancer with the New York City Ballet. Hercog was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia and began her ballet training at the age of six. She later studied at the Royal Ballet School in London and danced with the Royal Ballet before joining the New York City Ballet in 2004. Hercog has choreographed several ballets, including «The Firebird» and «Swan Lake.»
