Founded in 1961 by Edward Villella, Miami City Ballet is one of the foremost professional ballet companies in the United States. Under the artistic direction of Lourdes Lopez since 2012, the company has 50 dancers and an active repertoire of more than 100 ballets. Miami City Ballet is the resident ballet company of South Florida, where it performs for an annual audience of more than 200,000. The company tours nationally and internationally, appearing regularly at such prestigious venues as the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. and New York City’s Lincoln Center.
