Marquardt later commented, «I would have been really surprised if I had met American girls who were tall and long-legged and could do very complicated kicks and eye strikes.» The girls were originally known as the Missouri Rockets. After businessman Roxy took them to the Roxy Theater in New York City, they became known as the Roxy Group. Later, Roxy and Radio City Music Hall parted company and became the Rockettes.
